An Extra-large Graphite Deposit Has Been Explored In Xichuan County, Henan Province

- Dec 26, 2018 -

The reporter learned from Henan Geological and Mineral Bureau that the first Geological Prospecting Institute of the bureau had recently explored a large Graphite Deposit in Xichuan County, Henan Province, and the reserves of single mineral resources reached a new high in Henan Province, with 14.815 million tons of graphite resources. According to the relevant person in charge of the geological prospecting institute, five ore beds and six ore bodies have been delineated in the area through census. The ore types are mainly graphite plagioclase gneiss and the deposit types are sedimentary metamorphic. The census area is located in the graphite metallogenic belt of Dagou Formation in Xichuan County. According to the expert group's assessment, the prospective mineral resources in this zone can reach hundreds of millions of tons, and it will become an important graphite mining base in China.

It is reported that graphite is a special non-metallic mineral, but it has excellent properties of metals. It is one of the most heat-resistant light minerals known. It is widely used as refractories, hot metal forming materials, conductive materials, environmental protection materials, radiation-proof materials, military and aerospace materials. In recent years, with the progress of science and technology and graphene material technology, graphite functional materials have been successfully applied in mobile devices, aerospace, new energy batteries and other emerging industries, and their development and utilization prospects are broad.

The discovery of super-large graphite ore is expected to alleviate the market situation in which the prices of graphite refractories and carbon materials have been increasing in recent years.
